experience was creepy, funny, heartbreaking and beautiful in its simplicity. Scaling this up to a large multi-site immersive theatre experience has been a wild learning experience for everyone. Our mission was to create a story-world that recast the university campus as an institution of undefined nature, filled with peculiar characters and personalities. We wanted to explore how the audience might be brought in to closer proximity with the action. To smell the institute smells. To brush past the guards. To be active witnesses to the strange world we had created. We hope you enjoy.
Visitors’ Day is inspired by a small show I once saw at the Edinburgh Festival. Staged in an old school hall with all the institutional smells of childhood, a man came in and sat us around a large table where he dished out soup and stories about the institution he lived in. The
